Half a million reasons to celebrate on World Environment Day

Sustainability Report 2019 published

In 2019, 3stepIT prevented more than half a million devices from being dumped or destroyed.

By giving their devices a second life, our customers halved their electronic waste (e-waste) and reduced related carbon emissions by 36%.

It is a record we are incredibly proud of, and this World Environment Day we are celebrating with the release of our 2019 Sustainability Report.

We are driven and energised by our purpose – to take care of the word’s technology – and by the work we do to help our customers consume IT more sustainably.

Our mission doesn’t end there.

2019 was a year of milestones as we work to continually reduce our own environmental impact. We know our green credentials are important to our customers and, like them, we’re committed to running the most sustainable operations we can.

This year’s report shows:

We now manage 2.2 million devices

98% of devices returned to us were re-sold, reducing carbon emissions by 36%

Five out of six of our sites now use only green electricity

We became proud signatories to the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals

There were zero serious injuries at our sites

Our new Vendor Charter promotes our ethical supply chain

Our credentials in sustainable IT were also recognised by the industry in 2019. We were Highly Commended in the World Economic Forum’s Circular Economy Awards and awarded Best Sustainable IT Finance by Capital Finance International. We were excited that our Technology Lifecycle Management service was recognised as an ‘Efficient Solution’ by the Solar Impulse Foundation, for helping businesses protect the environment in a profitable way.

Still, with e-waste the world’s fastest growing waste stream, there is much more to be done, and we have big plans for 2020 and beyond. We want to raise the debate about technology reuse and recycling up the agenda and show the world there is a better, greener way for businesses to consume technology. Watch this space.
