The circular tech leader introduces a new management structure to boost international growth

Helsinki, Paris 22 June 2023

3stepIT, a Nordic leader in Circular Technology Lifecycle Management services, announced today a new governance structure aimed at advancing its pan-European Joint Venture with BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions – BNP Paribas 3stepIT – while ensuring continued and resilient support for its Nordic markets.

Following a request from the Board, from July 1, Carmen Ene, CEO of 3stepIT and BNP Paribas 3 Step IT, will dedicate 100% of her time to her Joint Venture Chief Executive role, focusing on the development of the company’s pan-European business and continuing to represent the brand on the international stage.

At the same time, Jakob Lagander, currently Managing Director of 3stepIT Sweden, will step in as 3stepIT CEO, managing the Nordic business while continuing with his current country leader position.

Carmen Ene joined 3stepIT in 2015 after over 20 years in senior roles at IBM. Under her watch, the Nordic company grew by 70% and entered a partnership with BNP Paribas – one of the top financial institutions in Europe – becoming an international player in the tech sector, operational in 11 markets with delivery capabilities in 18.

“Since joining our company, Carmen has been instrumental in establishing 3stepIT as a European leader in the market,” said Jarkko Veijalainen, owner and Chairman of the Board of 3stepIT. “Our Joint Venture with BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions is growing rapidly, having generated close to 500m Euros in revenue in 2022. This means that now is the time to accelerate the growth trajectory of our international business, which Carmen is uniquely positioned to do thanks to her skills and experience”.

Jakob Lagander joined 3stepIT in 2021, growing the company’s business in Sweden by 40% and helping establish 3stepIT as a key player in the tech sector in the country.

Commenting on the appointment of Jakob Lagander, Jarkko Veijalainen added: “From managing the launch of our largest remarketing centre in Växjö to setting up two entirely new teams - Healthcare/MedTech and New Business – Jakob has gained valuable experience and demonstrated his outstanding ability to manage and grow one of our largest markets. 3stepIT could not be in safer hands.”

The organisation changes come at a pivotal time for the tech sector in Europe, with the European Union pushing for the adoption of circular economy business models, IT enterprise spending projected to increase to $1.4 trillion by 2026, and stricter upcoming ESG regulations set to impact over 50,000 companies.
