The Importance of celebrating women in the industry
Here at 3 Step IT, International Women’s Day is an important date in the diary. Celebrating the accomplishments of women everywhere - not only today, but throughout history - is something we try to do on a regular basis. Being able to feel personal pride in the level of gender equality within your own company is something that not enough women in tech can yet relate to. While this is of course a critical issue, which must be addressed sooner rather than later, we are proud that the team here at 3 Step IT is able to enjoy working within a balanced company.
Having worked my way through the ranks over the course of a 24 year career in Information Technology, I understand wholeheartedly that this industry is one which can often be male dominated, but 3 Step IT does not look at gender in its employment. We don’t hire to fulfil quotas, staff are employed based solely on talent and attitude; but of course, in a business so brilliantly guided by our female CEO, Carmen Ene, no less is expected. We’re proud to have so many women in this company showcasing their talent every day.
From Ada Lovelace’s historic movements in the development of computer programming, to Angelica Ross making monumental strides forward in equality in tech, innovation can be anything - and more importantly, it can come from anyone.
International Women’s Day is a chance to reflect on, and celebrate, the achievements of women. Talent has no gender.
