For its circular economy services

3stepIT has once again received the industry’s top sustainability accolade, having won the “Sustainability – International Innovator” award at the 2022 Leasing Life Conference.

The award recognises 3stepIT’s circular economy business model and the work we have done to expand our sustainability services and increase our positive impact.

The judges recognised 3stepIT’s strong progress in 2021, including:

  • Sustainable solutions – we made further developments to our asset management platform and introduced several new services, including the Sustainable Technology Lifecycle Calculator that helps organisations understand their e-waste and carbon avoidance potential.

  • Sustainable impact – we now have 2.3 million business-critical assets under management worldwide, which means more businesses than ever can access sustainable IT services. More than half a million devices were processed through our refurbishing centres and saved from landfill in another record year for our team.

  • Leadership in sustainability – we launched our new ESG strategy, Go Circular, and appointed Tiia Katajamäki to the newly created role of Senior Manager for Sustainability, to drive 3stepIT’s ambition to tackle the global e-waste crisis and reduce digital emissions.

  • Sustainable innovation – Through our innovative Repair Programme we salvaged thousands of parts from irreparable devices that would have otherwise been recycled. In 2021, we repaired over 25,000 devices, reusing 18,000 spare parts that would have otherwise been destined for the scrap heap.

Jason Skidmore, 3stepIT’s Chief Commercial Officer, who attended the award ceremony said: “This award is recognition of our growing impact. Since 2015 we have diverted more than 3 million devices from landfill by helping our customer apply the circular economy to their IT operations.

In the last year, through our Technology Lifecycle Management services our customers have prevented 1662 tons of e-waste from hitting landfill, the equivalent to 1,187 cars hitting the scrap heap. It’s a huge credit to our people and our customers that our work has been recognised in this way.”
